Trapster Iphone app – free speed camera detector
Trapster is an open source speed camera database which now has an iphone app do give you alerts as you travel! it combines technologies such as GPS and wireless location, voice transcription, geocoding, reverse geocoding, and SMS, with a central database server. It communicates in real time, using the Internet providing data based on users reports of locations. The service is free!
Does this pose an ethical question on trying to avoid speed cameras? – no in the least – the Police are continually saying that cameras are there as a prevention – and as such even if they didn’t get anyone – if they got them to slow down then they have fulfilled their purpose… Trapster simply assists in reminding drivers to slow down – enhancing the effectiveness of the cameras..
